LoopulEX trial unit at Brewdog
The Scottish cult brewery Brewdog has set itself the goal of efficient and economical use of energy and raw materials. While a new brewhouse and raw material handling system is being installed at the brewery in Ellon, tests are taking place in the background of their cold area.
We were able to install a test version of our LoopulEX system in the Brewdog headquarters, with which is now up and running tests with different dry hopped beers.
The first partial results are already promising, especially compared to the previous dry hopping method. With only 3 hours per 100 hl batch, a more intensive hop aroma could be achieved with the same amount of hops. This results in a savings potential of up to 30% hops to achieve a flavor match. At the same time, oxygen pick-up during the process is almost 0 ppm. Beer losses caused by dry hopping could be reduced to 1.5-2% with the LoopulEX system! These results already speak for themselves.
